Working with some of the world's largest investment managers, in both the active and passive investment space, allows us to provide a truly independent platform, grounded in choice.
Our passively managed award winning target date fund core investment strategy
Passive IRIS is an ideal investment solution for members who want to take a retirement lump sum and invest in an Approved Retirement Fund (ARF) at retirement. Additional Passive IRIS options aimed at individuals who want to purchase an annuity or take a cash lump sum at retirement are also available.
Passive IRIS has a number of unique characteristics:
A sustainable investment
Passive IRIS funds are classified as Article 8 Funds†. Article 8 Funds are funds which promote environmental or social characteristics (although not exclusively) and which invest in companies that follow good governance practices (“Light Green or Article 8 funds”)
†The annuity option is not an Article 8 Fund.

We believe that environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) factors may have a material impact on investment risk and return outcomes and that good stewardship can create and preserve value for companies and markets as a whole. The trustee also recognises that long term sustainability issues, particularly climate change, present risks and opportunities that increasingly may require explicit consideration.
The New Ireland Assurance Responsible Investment Policy and Engagement Policy sets out how we incorporate ESG considerations and sustainability risks into our investments and how we engage and interact with the management of the companies in which we invest. The scope and application of the policies and the responsibilities and obligations arising under the policies are also set out.
Our Sustainable Investing webpage sets out our commitment to sustainable finance and includes all relevant polices and documentation.
New Ireland's Passive IRIS† and PRIME range of funds, available under the New Ireland Master Trust Preferred Suite of funds incorporate Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) goals into their investment process.
Passive IRIS† and PRIME funds are categorised as Article 8 under the Sustainable Financial Disclosure Regulations (SFDR) meaning they promote, among other characteristics, environmental or social characteristics, or a combination of those characteristics, provided that the companies in which the investments are made follow good governance practices. They use exclusions, tilting and asset stewardship to promote Environmental and Social objectives as well as promote good governance.
†The annuity option is not an Article 8 Fund.
