Protect What Matters Most
Life is complicated enough when you’re fit, well and have a steady income coming in. But we often take our health for granted, especially when we’re younger. No one needs the added financial, practical and emotional problems that a serious illness can bring but sometimes, without warning, these things happen and while no one likes to think about becoming seriously ill, it pays to be prepared for the future. Ask yourself, how would I or my family cope if I got seriously ill?
Our Specified Illness Benefit can’t prevent serious illness, but it can make dealing with the consequences a lot easier. Wouldn’t it be comforting to know that, should the worst happen, you would be able to cope financially?
What is Specified Illness Benefit?
Specified Illness Benefit pays out a lump sum amount on diagnosis of any one of 67 serious illnesses covered during the chosen term of cover. The Specified Illness Benefit is payable if you suffer any one of 47 main Specified Illnesses or 20 Partial Payment Specified Illnesses which are listed in our brochure. You choose the amount of cover you need and how to use it, for example, covering your mortgage and loan repayments and everyday bills and expenses if you became ill, leaving you to concentrate on getting better.

Why New Ireland?
Specified Illness Benefit from New Ireland gives you financial protection:
47 main illnesses covered
20 additional illnesses covered for partial payment
We are the only company in the market that offers you a reduced premium if you are excluded from certain illnesses and while terms and conditions apply, we have no general exclusions.
The cost of your cover will never increase during the term of your plan unless you choose to index your benefits or premiums.
Under Life Choice You and Family or Life Choice Home with Specified Illness Benefit, children of between 6 months and 18 years of the life insured person are automatically covered for up to 50% of the Specified Illness Benefit at the time of diagnosis up to a maximum of €25,000, so you can rest assured everyone is protected.
You can choose to have your cover as stand alone or accelerated. In the case of Accelerated Specified Illness Benefit your lump sum benefit would be reduced by any amount paid under Accelerated Specified Illness Benefit.
You can even add one or more optional benefits to protect yourself financially in the short-term:
- A stay in hospital (for more than 3 nights)
- An accident which leaves you unable to work (for more than 2 weeks)
- Suffering one of a number of broken bones
- Undergoing one of a number of surgeries
